Peer Leader Program
FASTrack Peer Leaders are an important part of the FASTrack experience! They guide FASTrack students through common challenges, helping them become familiar with the University of Mississippi academic resources, campus life, and student services.
During the fall semester, FASTrack Peer Leaders are assigned to sections of EDHE 105, becoming student leaders to 20 first-year students in the program. Throughout the semester, peer leaders are expected to attend their EDHE 105 section every week. They assist the instructor with lessons and share their own student perspective with the class.
Peer leaders build professional and supportive personal relationships with FASTrack students. Beyond working with their mentees in the classroom, peer leaders are available to their students as friends, guides and role models. Many of our peer leaders meet with students outside of the classroom, whether that means walking to class or getting a cup of coffee together.
Peer leaders also help coordinate various social activities throughout the semester, helping to further build the FASTrack community. In previous years, peer leaders have organized pizza parties, study breaks, and tailgates.
